The South Carolina Crappie Association
The South Carolina Crappie Association's Annual Classic was held May 7, 2005 at Strom Thurmond Reservoir. Nineteen qualifying teams battled for the opportunity to be named "Classic Champs".
All of the below teams collected a check at the Classic!
Todd and Leonard Frick from Leesville, SC dominated the field with 13.40 pounds with their sometimes unbeatable and often uncommon style of fishing in Crappie tournaments (one pole jigging).
Rounding out the top three were the second place team of Ed Duke from Concord, NC and Scott Cantey from Lake City, SC and third place Ricky and Larry Cannon of Chapin, SC. Ed and Scott were trolling 1/48th ounce jigs in Fishing Creek on the Georgia side of the lake to capture 11.72 pounds. Ricky and Larry were trolling in a creek off of the Little River (Georgia side) to take third place with 11.10 pounds.
The Big Fish of the day was captured by the team of Wayne Medlin of Lugoff, SC and Tony Edwards of Gilbert, SC.
