The 2008 Kids Rodeo

SCCA promotes involving kids in family activities such as fishing.  Each year, we try to sponsor an event just for the children (16 years old or younger). Click here or the link above to see photos from last year. This year's event was held on Lake Greenwood at Moon Landing.  Any 9 panfish (bream, crappie, perch, etc.) and 1 of either of the following: bass, striper or catfish OR 10 panfish caught legally by the kids from a boat or from the bank was weighed in together to make up their total weight. Anyone was welcome to bring a kid to join in the fun.  There was no entry fee for this tournament  Food and drinks were served at the weigh-in site at 12:00.  We would like to express our thanks to all sponsors for making this event a success.   Each child received a $20 gift card from Wal-Mart to select a gift of their choice.    Also, Mr. & Mrs. Hobby, owners of Moon Landing were very cordial, even providing coffee and pastries before the event, and didn't charge to launch boats for those participating in the event.

Lacey Huffstetler (Mike's daughter) and Sydney Griffith (Marc Danque's granddaughter) with the biggest fish--carp--they caught. Mike said it took them 45 minutes to land this one.

Lacey and Sydney might appear to be afraid of fish in their picture with the carp, but don't let them fool you. Here they are in the boat showing two of the crappies they caught. Mary Cannon with the biggest crappie caught. This one weighed 1.99 lbs. Nice crappie following the spawn. Zack Slice, youngest angler, and Connor Noffz, next to youngest angler, both three years old, each won a prize for being the two youngest participants. BRANDON MILLER IS FISHING WITH HIS DAD WHILE RANDY BUNDRICK RUNS THE TROLLING MOTOR.

JESSE BUNDRICK IS CAUGHT REELING IN A CRAPPIE WHILE HIS DAD, JERRY BUNDRICK IS WATCHING. THREE GENERATIONS OF SLICES ENJOYED THE DAY--TOMMY, SR, AND TOMMY, JR., WORKED A LOT WHILE THREE-YEAR-OLD ZACK SLICE HAD A BLAST!
